Thank you for the kind comments about the seascape. I hadn't thought about James Bond movies. However, Donald, you would be correct in thinking that old colour images change to a bluish hue over time, the red and green dyes being degraded by light.

    Re: Burton upon Trent Again

Cheers Antonio, but it will have to wait until after the weekend because it is a very busy place at the weekend, especially in the sun.

    The hard one revisited.

The original was an HDR panorama but this straight panorama is much harder since the file was too big and I had too face the camera upwards. It is a stitch of four 50mm f6.3 1/640 100iso or thereabouts. I used autostitch to stitch it because my paid for stuff couldn't cope.

It was exceptionally windy that day so it was difficult to set up the shot without getting sand blown in my face and in my sneakers.

    Shot with Canon 5D/17-40mm L

These landscapes are far out of my league, but you're inspiring me to try harder this summer! Gorgeous. What do you all do with these photos? Do you hang them in your own homes, sell them, just keep them on file? I hope they all have a broad audience.

    Hello Steve.

I didn't forget to comment your photos and will do it when I have more time.

    Re: The hard one revisited.

That's ok; I just found out that the church is not very good, it should have been HDR and something went wrong with the focus on the right. So it was murder to stitch but it didn't stitch very well and out of focus on the right. I suppose that couple could have messed that up or I can't explain what went wrong. The original was 8100 x 4600 pixels and it is only when viewed 100% you can see the joins due to different focusing. Should have stuck it on manual but with everything more than 20 metres away I didn't think it would make a difference.

This is Steve what I would do with your image if you care to re-shoot.
I would place the bridge more to the left as proposed, cloned the yellow flowers and get the focus at the background using a so wide aperture as possible to have the flower in the foreground completely blurred.
I would maintain these flowers/branches as much as possible to give depth to the photo and would be nearer to them. Almost with the leaves touching you.

If you have time I suggest you use a table with the DoF to get the flowers as blurred as possible.

I also think that the photo needs some brightness and contrast.

Some here know about this much more than I do so... let them speak if they wish.
Be aware of the horizon if that is the case and put it a little more down, almost at 1/3 of the vertical size.

I hope you are not offended in some way because I am writing all this about your image...

Of course not Antonio. But I am on the edge of a cliff however it is interesting that you would have the flowers out of focus, and the bridge in focus presumably. Thankyou for your analysis.

    Hello,

I find the original composition very pleasant. Try using a polarizer to get a darker sky with more constrast next time, or try to reduce the luminace of the blue channel a little bit. When recomposing the picture with a blurred out foreground I suggest zooming in a little bit towards the bridge.

Thank you for your point of view Robert

About the blurred foreground and the suggestion of zooming I consider that it depends on the lens you are using - which is obvious - not forgetting the space behind you.

Scenes like this I shoot using the 24-70 + full frame which gives me latitude to play with the composition ( that is if I have the time to ).
The CPF is a great idea and something to consider strongly.
Indeed, most of the times the CPF returns nice and good results.
