    Nice place indeed ...
Perhaps the almost square format is not the best for this kind of scene.
The colors are nice and so is the composition.

    Re: Landscapes

This photo was taken at the entrance to Pt Arthur Tasmania. It was shot at ISO 200, 33mm, f/18, 1/160sec. The cloud formation, mix of shade and bright sunshine, and the brilliant yelllow crop, appealed to me. Originally I'd cropped out the barbed wire fence in the foreground, but to me it least it seemed to add a bit of context. The camera is a Canon 5D II and the ens EF16-35 f/2.8.

    Lake somerset, reborn.

What a big difference a couple of weeks make to a scene, particularly this one. After the devastating floods we had a few weeks back, the lake is slowly regaining its former glory. The water was a murky dirty brown colour, but the beautiful blue colouration is returning. If you look to the top of the mountain, you'll see one of the landslides caused by the torrential rains we had. This 7 shot pano was taken with my Canon 5dmkII with Canon 17-40L attached.

Thank you Edwin for posting this image here.

But will you please Edwin, document a bit more the "after the floods". Will you please show us more of the glory of this beautiful place and the scarfs left by the storm using your 5D and lens.

You are right regarding the barbed wire fence. It enhances the image to have something in the foreground.
Perhaps you could have taken the wire a bit from below...

    ride on

I'm planning my next ride on june..
but I will bring with me only a light and small compact camera (like the one with which I shooted the pics below) for many reasons:
    weight
    dimensions
cost: if I fall down and I break camera and lenses ??
but in clear and sunny days a compact camera can work well.. isn't it?
Is anyone of you a biker? ... Have You ever ridden with your DSLR?
    bye

I did velodrome when I was considerably younger, but can assure you, there was no time for shooting anything...

    Re: ride on

I did do a lot of cross country riding, but I stuck to hard surface roads for th emost part. Mountain biking was something of a novelty when I was in the racing/touring mode...and on those occasions (touring) I always carried a camera, albeit a film one. For safety purposes, I designed a net package that held the camera in a padded pouch between the center frame components, but down closer to the crank and up toward the seat post to keep my knees from banging into it.

The road to Las Vegas. Taken from the van during a road trip in 2001. The original was on film, taken with my old Rebel.

Is was a long drive, wasn't it ?
There are some spots on the sky but they are not important to understand how large this country is

Considering that the road trip started in Texas, it was a very long drive 2343 Kms, according to Google. It was fun

I see them too, now that you mention. I need to locate the original print and get a better scan. This one gets grainy everytime I try any PP. I moved back to India last year and the prints are still in some box. I am lazy
    Thanks for your kind words

However, the image makes me want to see more at the right of what - it is not I suppose - it looks like an island (where the Budha is).
On the other hand, perhaps because of the season you are in now, the mist is rather present at the far end which convey a certain peculiar ambiance to the shot.

Is this Kolkata ? Can't you shoot again a bit latter with more lights from the streets and houses ? Can't you show us if this is an island ? And it's way in...
Please darken the sky a bit enhancing more the statue.

    Thank you ... Ashwin
