    Re: Landscapes

I did this one again insteadof the chapel: As you can see the pillar leans to the right, the window looks like it is bowed out at the top left, it also looks like it is at an angle, but the walls are straight.
Another HDR where I have tried to get it in correct perspective best I can, shot in vertical aspect 17mm, I had to reconstruct the floor and star. I added a yellow filter 44% for effect since if you are in the South Transept of Lichfield Cathedral you notice the yellow light.

Notice the knots; legend has it these were used to hang three peasants at a time with, they are called the Stafford knot.

You may well ask me what I have done and I will tell you that I don't know exactly any more
But I can tell you that I - these days - always open the files in CS5 through Camera Raw as Smart Objects.
This way I can always go back to the settings of the image to fine tune and experiment over and over.
I apply on the file the necessary adjustments I think are suitable and I save as tif, layers included.
I usually don't forget to use the lens profile correction. And I also use frequently smart filters which give a large amount of control.
In fact I do remember that this image has the sky blown out but using a filter (orange) I was able to disguise the problem.
I remember I have also distorted a bit at my mood of the moment

    @ Nicola
Never mind about your English Nicola. It is as good as mine.
    278 = Landscapes - Archive = South of Portugal
    279 = Landscapes - Archive = Morocco

You are Nicola absolutely right about the hot day on the Portuguese image. It was early morning but the temperature was rising already. There was some mist in the air which I kept in the image when I was working on it.
But the one in Morocco was also on a very hot day but at a complete different time. As long as I remember I think it was about 11 or 12 in the morning. I don't want to go and see the exif now, lazy me
In this picture I worked with very different settings resulting in a more common image.
Thank you Nicola for your opinion which was a valuable one

thank you Steve. It is very nice.
have you ever considered to shoot with people moving ? And with people moving and incense ? I don't know if they use incense in your churches but the "fog"/"mist" would introduce some mysticism to the scene.
    How about that ?

    Are these borders too much.

This is a replacement image with a little more symmetry.

Thank you for posting here Laine (I think this is your really name. Correct me if I am wrong please).
For me the image is great but it has some branches on the left side which could be cloned with advantage.
You could also saturate a bit more the colors.
Nice picture in spite of these little "problems"
    Cheers
I saw now: is that a house at the far end ? In green ?

Is this image an old one Steve ? Isn't it a bit too "tight" ?

Have you tried the new feature in CS5 the content aware fill (at 4m 55 seconds) ?
    Well, you should ...
Well I have tried it for you. Just look

    Re: Landscapes

I'm still working on it Antonio, some thinking required and that's maybe a bit unusual from me. The top one is surrounded by modern buildings; it is a factory and the first time I've seen it without a flash car parked in front.

It is in Quonians, Lichfield, hiding away.

It is edited above; someone suggested more symmetry, I tried cloning but it somehow isn't quite as good.

Took this whilst in Tasmania a few years ago with a 3mp canon powershot A70, we were touring the Mole creek caves and this was the waiting area between caves

    Re: Landscapes

Hi Nicola;I tried the cloning but it was too hard; You can see it here where I used blur to unsuccessfully hide faults:

    http://public.fotki.com/Arith/lichfi...el-cloned.html

However I'm quite pleased with the more symmetrical border, see replaced first image.(above)
