No Slack...okay, maybe just a little, just this time...well, maybe another time too......anyway, I like the image but I'm always bothered somewhat by walls which are slanted inward as in your image where everything to right center leans left and everything left leans right. You can use Rotate image (Image Adjustment), skew and perspective (Edit/Transform) to realign those areas without losing too much of the initial image. If you do it before you crop, you won't lose anything. The image below still needs some tweaking to the left of center, but overall, it is closer to an equalization of all verticals.

Then again, maybe that was the effect you were seeking all along and now I've gone and messed up a perfectly good upload...

Hi This image of the arch was taken December 18 2010 . THis image you will find has better shadow detail. The highlights also have more detail. This subject is very diffuicult to photgograph. My imahe was atken about 5.16 pm because the light is mich less on the falls. The cave had a nikon sb28 flash added while the image was taken on my Sony 850 with the DRO bracket. This feature on the cameras is vey good as it takes just one image and then clones it into 3 images with differennt DRC. Tis avoids any cahnge caused by movememnt or delay between indivivual frames

    Keith,

Is it just me or is there some distortion in this? The image looks to be stretched out horizontally and tilting to the right. Fantastic colours though

    Re: Landscapes

Thanks for that MiniChris. I hadnt actually seen the converging verticals, I dont think I look long enough and hard enough at my shots. I had a little go myself at the skew and perspective. The right of centre seems easy enough but the left of centre I found hard enough to get right.

    Re: Landscapes

I had the same problem but I thought it was because I didn't have the original image to work with...I was running out of crop room when I got it to that "straight look." 18mm is pretty wide and there is going to be some distortion regardless, though between what we've both accomplished, I think it can be minimized.

You could perhaps apply some adjustments in order to get some more details in the foreground and all the dark area of the picture...

I don't know. I like the colors, but the picture itself seems a bit dull. The lake is too much in the middle I think.

    Sunrise over lake somerset.

I hope you like this sunrise & dead trees image taken at Lake Somerset in South East Queensland. It was taken some time back, but I thought I should re-edit it to see if I could make any improvements. Let me know what you think.

I like the shot, although the sun distracts me slightly. The atmosphere is terrific with the tree stumps coming up out of the water and the mountains behind them.

Yes Peter, the photo is rather flat because the lake is too much in the middle
"Something" in the foreground would be fine to give depth.
Try something better than this clumsy work of mines that I post here Peter
In fact it was a rather poor choice of a tree of mines... But it was what I had nearer

    Hello Edwin
    Thank you for posting again
The photo is nice and here again we can see that it's yours as you are using the same strong colors.
    Cheers

That does look nice. But this is quite a barren landscape actually. It is the top of a dune. I might get someone to take a tree branch along though and have him/her hold it up

This is from another corner, but I am not happy with this one either because there is traffic in there (which I could clone out, I know)
