Pic must be ok because you missed my last commentPS: You've got a DoF issue there ... not often you'll get away with F6.3 with that lens for that kind of closeup unless you backup a bit .
Ah - sorry, I did miss it.
Easiest way to cure things like that if you can't shoot at a higher F-stop is just to backup a couple of meters, which still gives plenty of resolution for an online photo. Also, you can probably help by focusing a little forward of the eyes in cases like this.
Actually I don't find it that objectionable...maybe because I'm used to seeing out of focus subjects . I love the first one and the most important part is razor sharp. Nice job...and what a little cutie!
Great lookin pups, I think you have done quite well in the capture of who they are.
Enjoy the new lights!
Is that an umbrella reflection
Hi Mark,
Considering it was basically a test shot, taken at a known 'non-ideal' f stop, I think the first is brilliant, the whiskers are still sharp, just the tip of the nose that isn't and we're used to that, even by eye if you get this close to man's best friend.
Cheers,
Thanks Dave and others for the comments. I used a flash meter and then just experimented a bit with a few apertures. I did quite a bit of selective USM's on the nose and muzzle and only one the image as a whole. PP can't always make up for getting it wrong in camera in the first place. It was taken with a 5d Mark II and a canon 85mm 1.2 II so I would expect to get half decent shots with this combination.
