This weekend I tried to get some good macro shots of my model's eye. Quite difficult to do I found out. At first I tried it with a Kiron 105mm macro lens, but focusing proved to be very difficult. I used a tripod of course (at first) and my model was sitting in a chair.
The lack of relief makes it hard I think, or perhaps the lighting.
Anyway, after looking at the pics I threw them away, all were a bit unsharp. Then I tried the Nikkor 18-200mm lens with a B&W 4x close-up filter attached (hand held by the way, autofocus is a great thing!).
The result is below. Not big enough for my taste, but at least this one is sharp enough.
I didn't use flash BTW. It didn't improve the photo from this close and annoyed the hell out of my model.
Any suggestions on how to improve on this?
And yes, that is me reflected there and houses on the other side of the street. Eyes really reflect a lot.
