Sharpening and noise reduction C&C
Previously posted version:
After "to sharpen or not to sharpen thread" and article on layer masks.
On the second one, I made a selection of the edges, sharpened the edges, inverted the selection and reduced noise. The pic was taken at an 800 ISO.

Dave, You just opened a new can of worms now Since it was on automatic shutter while I was shooting, I have a couple dozen ducks to choose from, and a very cool set of splashes on the surface in one, but the ducks are sort of tangled....
I have a project now.

If I may impose once again...
I made this mask to focus the sharpening, but the way I used it was to select each duck outline with the magic wand, then hide the mask, and use the selection on the lower layer to focus the sharpening. Isn't there a way to just load the mask as a selection path or something?
