    Vivitar 135mm

The pawn shop down the street has an Vivitar 135mm 3.5 for sale. Right now it's on an older Nikkorex camera and he wants $80 for the both. My question is this; I have a 55-300 Nikon AF. Will the dof be much different at the same focal length? And also, is $40 too much too offer for the lens.

    Hi John,

I don't believe the DoF is going to be any different.

I also doubt, even though it is a prime, it will be any sharper or better contrast than what you have now in the zoom.

Also, depending what camera you put it on, even the metering may not work - in addition to only being manual focus.

I guess it'll be smaller and lighter though, but personally, I'd save the $40,
