Do you want to remove them permanently, or extract them for viewing, or extract them and store them as a text file?

I personally use this batch EXIF cleaner. It works blazingly fast even on thousands of images, and lets to handle not only EXIF, but also XMP, IPTC, etc. Hope this helps.
Stupid question probably but why would one want to remove EXIF data from own pictures?
RonH,
You may want to remove EXIF when you're uploading photos onto the Web, and do not want to expose your personal information (GPS coordinates, data/time, etc).
If you've edited a photo, keep in mind that almost all editors do not update an internal EXIF thumbnail. So, it's good idea to remove only the EXIF thumbnail in that case.
If you're selling your works on photo stocks, but your equipment is not recommended by editors - it is a good thought to remove camera-related tags only.

RonH,
My name is Peter.
I do agree that someone can steal your photos - but you should not rely on EXIF only, because it's so easy to strip out (for instance, converting to BMP and back to JPEG cleans all the metadata). So my advise is to add visible watermarks, and do not post big-sized photos in public. And by the way, that software shows a warning message before processing - to not violate anyone's author rights.
Someone once took one of my photos and published it without my permission... I commented on it saying it was a good picture indeed... two days later they added credits. It happened on a Central American Blog
Thank you Peter for the info and thanks Ron for your inputs
