    My Favourite tree

    My Favourite tree

I love this picture myself and imagine it would benefit from some framing. It gets mixed opinions from people I have shown it too and would appreciate some comments/feedback on it.
I have not done much to the photo in regards to post processing other than a little tweaking when importing the Raw image.
I can post the completely untouched image, converted to JPG, if anyone would like

    About the tree....
It is in the Longshaw estate in Derbyshire UK. Surrounded by large, moss covered, boulders overlooking a stream. The boulders were carved into Millstones on site and carried off to various mills. You can still find broken stones and half finished ones if you are lucky

    Hi Adam,
I am just an amateur, but I just love your favourite tree too. I love the way you have a blue-ish tinge to the landscape. The fact that the foreground and the main tree is in focus, whereas the background trees are pleasantly blurred is great. I felt that I would have liked to have seen a bit more of it though. Because you had the whole trunk, I would have liked to see above the trunk more, and more of at least the one side of the branches. Alternately, I might have tried to crop this image so that the eye is happy to enjoy the roots and mossy shadows. Just an idea.

Willie or Jiro is fine by me.

    Re: My Favourite tree

Adam, have you considered converting this to black and white and then apply a red filter? With all those textures and tones, it would look dramatic on b&w. Just my small opinion. Mind if I try?

By all means do what you will with the picture. I always fail horribly at black and white pictures.

Adam, what a wonderful subject. It kind of reminds me of one of my favorite flickr pictures of all time: Below Grade by Mikon T. I wonder if Jiro could give it a similar treatment in black and white -- I'm not so great at B&W either, but a vignette might really work on this one.

Hashim, I like your tree, too --

I love the composition. I keep staring at it hoping a gnome will pop up somewhere (doh - its Happy Hour, sorry, no gnomes). The colors are very interesting, was it taken with a Vivid color setting by chance?

I agree. Superb vision to 'see' that one Willie. But, Adam, you were the one who put it together in the first place. You always need good raw material to work up into a image worth keeping. So, well done.

    Re: My Favourite tree

Well thanks all and I will post some more efforts when I finally have something worth posting.
I will look more into my post processing too as I feel I am missing out on some possibilities
