Best regards,
Hi Dave,
Thank you for appreciating my work...
Steps you have suggested are very good, you have explained it in details so that every one can get to it.
I do it differently, not a universal method, depending upon the situation, I change my
approach to resolve it.
You all are knowledgeable, and have scientific or say correct universal method to do the job, whereas I am unorthodox, but always try to improve my PP skill, and do the job nicely

I'm certainly not a "universal" worker either, hence describing them as random tips and then saying; under some circumstances, almost none of the above applies
As you say, each image is different and must be treated so.
Cheers,

Cheers,
I am not saying that you are " UNIVRSAL " worker., or you are practicing universal method in your PP work.,
But when you are guiding someone who does not have necessary knowledge how to deal with that situation., you have to guide them with universal method., otherwise he will be confused.....
I have appreciated your way of guiding in the above case.
It is scientific, & proper way of guiding someone who does not have necessary skill to do tht job.
Once he has mastered the technic, and if he has creative mind, he may explore other method to do the same thing differently
Pl. do not misunderstand me
Re: NON Square Cropped Portraits - (nSCP's) - please post them here
Hi Ashwin,
I don't think I did (mis-understand you) :), but I felt those with less knowledge might think there was a universal method, hence re-emphasising the point.
You're definitely right though; it is helpful for people learning a new technique to start with a simple formula methodology and expand into more diversity as they gain experience.
I think we're saying the same thing :)
Cheers,

Hi Dave,
I am glad to note that there is no misunderstanding.....
Thank you very much for clarification

Re: NON Square Cropped Portraits - (nSCP's) - please post them here
Hi Dave,
I think the word " UNIVERSAL METHOD " which I mentioned is not proper word, this is due to my poor knowledge of English Language..... Proper word as you have mentioned. is " METHODOLOGY "
Please correct me.....Instead of Universal Method., Please read as " METHODOLOGY " lapse is regreted...... There is no Universal Method for PP

I just cropped the stone wall totally out on the left and made the magenta back wall less colorful and more blurry, and faded the flowers just a little. But I'm afraid my proportions and frame make it almost look like a Greek Karyatide (spelling?). By the way keep us posted about the details of that possible trip.
Carlos: you know or you should know by now that I don't care a dam if you work on my images or not, I even like you do so ! :)
And, more: I like what you have done.
However, you have done one thing wrong. And that is the canvas, which is smaller at the top than at the sides. :)
But I like the flowered triangle. It's good abd nice. I'll do it myself on my own picture.
This is not one of my best images however... That shadow Z shape... I don't like it. :(
About the voyage: later, later... I hope to be able to make a blog about it with the details.
And... the most important: It will be in a way that it will be reliable, trustable.
You will have no doubts when you put your money there. It will be very clean and transparent.
BTW - This reminds me of the title's book of a well known communist wrote some time ago: "The party with the walls in glass". He forgot to say that the glass was painted inside and no one could see what was going on inside. Oh I am being sarchastic :( :(
My travel will be transparent and will you be able to see inside.
:)

I was refering to Varanasi. In India there are any places with the same name and with different names fo the same city. Right ?
Kolkata I saw in Google Hearth and it is near Bangladesh, too much South.
Am I wrong ?
Kolkata an Bangladesh is for 2011. May be not. I would like to try Namibia. different light, different mood. Very nice also. :)

I’m glad you like it. I think that by fading the wall in the back and by separating the lighter part of the grass into 2 separate regions by cropping on the left, the Z in your picture became less distracting.
I’m sorry you don’t like the frame. I worked on its proportions much longer than I worked on the photo itself. These proportions were the fruit of a deliberate choice. I tried to balance the frame with the vertical dimensions of the subject. I tried to convey the idea that when one looks at a tall vertical object globally, one sees more to the sides and less towards the top. I also made the bottom larger to anchor the subject a little more to the ground. I think that if the bottom was narrower it would make the subject look taller and place the photographer closer to the ground.
Anyway, that is what I was thinking when I worked on the frame. Perhaps too much thinking!
But the subject of proportion is very subjective, and there is no right or wrong (well; within limits).
Have a great week and enjoy the weather in Portugal.

Thanks, Colin! Yes, I have been very busy. If he looks taller, it must be one of those lens distortion things. I never got to really learn which one is which :)

Jacsul, let me begin by the first picture you posted.
I like the blur you have on her face but - sorry - I don't like the lack of detail on her blouse neither the big white spot at the upper left part.
Yes, I know it is the reflection of the flash. So, here we have a tip: we have to be careful about the surfaces where the flash can reflect causing specular lights on our photos, unless we mean to do so, of course.
The black has no details. May be you still got some in your raw file... Make a mask, two layers, bla bla bla... You know...:)
If this shot was mine - I admit perfectly to do the same errors you do - I would make a crop hiding the errors. :p:p
Idea: can you make that and show us ? Not SCP. No. Make a nSCP, if you please.
We will be here to see.
OK ? :)

I like the tone. I like the posture, the moment, the capture.
Eyes closed, glass on her hand feeling free and happy. Relax... Nice.
Her birthday may be. Whatever. She's happy...:)
Here the lack of detail doesn't bother me so much as on the previous photo may be because of the tone...
I don't know why. In fact, my judgment are much for the feeling than anything else.
My positions and tastes can be discussed, not liked and so. OK. I respect those who don't agree with me. Not everybody can have good taste, right ? :D:D:D
But this is my opinion.
Here I would like only to have a little more field on the left side and may be then, a landscape crop would do great. I don't know. Trial and error or trial and choose.
Thank you for posting.
:):)

It is not that "I don't like the frame". I read carefully your point of view, your thoughts and they make sense indeed. Or I am too used to have the canvas at equal size in the 3 borders and reacted too quickly ...
:)
