Good job, Ashwin! I actually like the feeling of it now. Now it makes you smile when you look at it, very nice

However, it is almost graphics now. I mean you changed it too much, my personal goal is to achieve these things photographically if that is even a word used in this sense. I mean the usual adjustments in PS are acceptable but for example using the charcoal pen filter or posterization filter crosses the line for me. Does that make sense at all?

Oh Alis, that was you who posted that abbreviation. I thought it was Antonio. Then my version of TFNPSE would have made sense...
Thanks for your feedback on my shot. Will try cloning out the fingers.

And one question, if you don't mind.... How does your son feel about you pointing your camera towards him all the time?

    TFCH

Background of the image is such that in B&W, there is no much TONAL difference, hence background completely has to be removed effectively

I can guess he does not like it. He turns his head away whenever he sees me with my camera. Or just completely ignores me. I sometimes have to hide with my zoom lens and take pictures from a distance. When he feels he can't stop me, he comes too close and tries to touch the front element of the lens (filter of course) to stop me, since I have told him that he should never ever touch the lens glass. He even knows if he is too close to the lens, beyond the minimum distance, I can not focus and take a picture, so he sometimes does that.

Or he sometimes wants to me to watch when he does something interesting, like the other day when he was playing soccer. I keep telling him that this is a TTL system and I can see exactly what is happening, but he doesn't like it anyway. He apparently doesn't understand that those are exactly the moments I want to capture

Sometimes he asks me if his shirt or pant is good and I say no and insist that he should put on something else. Of course my reason is that I already have a lot pictures of him with that same shirt and it has nothing to do with his taste but unfortunately he does not get it

But anyway, he is too young, so we have never discussed this, I don't think he understands enough to tell me about it

HOWEVER, I usually don't care what others think or feel when I take their pictures I just do it. Specially when no flash is involved, there is absolutely no harm to them. It is not like I am pointing laser at them, so...

    It is fun!

Yes, she looks lovely, it's amazing what a difference a genuine happy smile makes to a portrait.

    Nice clean background too.

    Well done,

Oh, you're right, forgot to explain. I was actually pulling Antonio's leg, so I was waiting for him to guess.

Anyway, TFNPSE stands for "Thanks for not posting somewhere else", and NNTTMFPH of course stands for "No need to thank me for posting here". Standard photography jargon obviously

TFPH, Colin! Great concept and shot as always

The facial expression, the tilt of the body, and the air in the hair gives it a classic feel!
I think it is a bit too dark on the gun, if that is supposed to be part of the focus

Well Ali, as usual I am going to honest with you.
The image is great. Yes it is. Really. I do like it.
It has meaning, the person - in this case our young fellow - is interacting with us. It is a portrait with soul, character, personality. Yes, he was waiting for the shot. Or maybe not but he was there looking at you laying in bed. I would almost guess that he had some fever... His hair is not wet but that is with highter temperatures but his eyes... I am not sure. And is that a pajama ? OK it can be. I am in doubt. Perhaps it is not and he just came from the street and felt like laying in bed feeling a bit cold.
But huuummm... But I think the crop is not the best.
I would rather a longer one more horizontal according to the position of our subject.
The idea of showing the two bars is fantastic. And this is what I have been "fighting" for a long time mainly in landscapes: something in the foreground to give depth to the image.
Imagine the same shot without the bars. Bah ! Completely different. Would I have been speculating about his eventual fever ? Perhaps not.
I also suspect that you will get a third bar if you make a larger crop but it looks like you have some room to the left of the left bar and some little room to the right of the right bar.
This image give a - shall I say - "jump" to another level. It is not only a stereotyped photo well executed bla bla bla but a picture where you stop and ask questions like I did.
And this is another level of Photography. (I look like a philosopher not a polititian, no). A level where you involve the viewer in the action - whichever it is - of the subject, a level where you ask for interpretation of the image.
These are images that make you stop. These are the great pictures.
And if you ever get inside the soul of the person and get that unique moment then my friend you are in nirvana.
    -
Looking over and over I think he had a little fever.
This time I am not thanking you for posting here

    Thanks Ali,

I wasn't too worries about the gun - after all, it is a matt black gun against a matt black background, so it was never going to reflact much light. I could of raised it in PP, but I was happy enough with the light it picked up.
