I spent last weeks post processing a lot of pictures I took during my friend's wedding, I'm going to ask your help.. C&C some of those please! at least some of the pics that make me trouble.

here a B&W shot on a seaside promenade, I cut the a bit the frame and erased some "strangers" just in front of the newlyweds. what do you think of it?

this is from the church. Do you think that the curchman tunic on the right side is disturbing? or is important to understand to whom they are smiling? what else doesn't work?

It is cold out there, isn't it ? Let me say in few words what I think. Honestly as usual.
Under my point of view what is negative ? Too tight frame. Doesn't show enough path (on the left side of the picture). Needs more "room" on the right. Clone the lamp on the right also if you please.
Now, what I like and is good: The shadows of both in the frame. The perspective of the future after a marriage. Here you understand why I don't like the small part of the path but would like a large part of it.
The positive aspects are more important than the negative ones, so I think you have here a good image and this is the reason for you to work more on it to make improvements. The photo has potential. Get the image out of it.

In fact the "cloth" at the right doesn't work for me. I needed you mention it until I understood that it is the priest. Silly me perhaps, who was not clever enough to understand so at the first sight.
Was I too harsh Nicola ?

I've been on a 365 Photo a Day and I am about a third of the way through. Being relatively new to photography, I've been dabbling in this and dabbling in that. I'm doing what is predictable and, maybe, a bit safe. Sometimes, though, I just enjoy taking photos of every day life. I haven't really thought them worthy of sharing but have been secretly happy that I'm getting better and better. Anyway, I think that I want to grow more in this area. May I share some pics, please? I am very much welcoming C&C - this is all so new to me. Please tell me if there is something big and obvious that I'm missing. I am going to start off breaking the rule of one photo per post. (Well, it's sort of one photo. I like both the B&W and the antiqued version. This is my youngest, sweet son, Toby! I think that what is happening is obvious.

I like best the black and white version as the background doesn't have so much impact and the colour of the face (in the colored one) is not the best is it ? OK I understand it is early morning the snow is outside and the light is cold, towards the blue. I also like best the crop in the B&W version.
You shot under a very good angle.

Yes the focus is not on him but on the Webkinz but all the feeling and emotion is there. What else would we want ?
You also did a good work using the light from the window with the two points on his eyes.
I know the name for that but can't remember now

The light is very nice in this place and you used it conveniently.
However, you have to agree that her eyes and face are a bit too dense / dark. I am sure you can do something about it.
But you have got a nice shallow DOF and a very reasonable background, not disturbing neither in colours nor in shape.
Please post again with the face "repaired", will you ?

This is what I was wondering. I, personally, feel nostalgic (and maybe some of the peers, my age, would, too) with the colored version because it is supposed to look like the color of our faded old photos in pvc (bad plastic) albums that have faded. It's not so nice that they all faded but, they DO have a certain style that is.... nostalgic. Also, for me the floor littered with ribbons from excitedly shredded presents is SO funny - to me. I think that you are completely right, though, that the B&W is clearer. It's hard to tell for me, in a way, because I think that any photo of my son is beautiful, no? So, thank you for adding your view!

This is very encouraging. I've just been enjoying getting comfortable snapping away at people and working on helping them feel comfortable, too. I never thought of it "seriously" - I've just been having fun.

Now, Antonio, (and whoever else sees this) I have a new 60mm prime lens (it came, yesterday) that has f2.8 and creates a beautiful bokeh. I cannot wait to try it out for some portraits!!!!!!

TFC I agree with you, It was a TOP light from window, I could have used reflactor to avoid dark shadow on eyes, Removing dark shadow of the eyes in PP spoils the photographs.

I appreciate your advices but unfortunately I composed the first picture without any other room on the left, in order to cut out another sunday's walker. I have only a bit of space on right and above and under...
about the picture in the curch, it's what I was looking for: "can anyone else understand what is in the picture? or only I can beacuse of I was there?" luckily I have other shots where both the priest and the newlyweds are (entirely) visible..! I will let them choice which one they prefer

Nice shot, Peter! The eyes and the "peri-orbital area" could use a little bit of brightening!

Also, for portraits, unless there is a compelling reason to use landscape crop/orientation, like a nice interesting relevant background (missing here in my opinion), I would stick to the portrait crop, although I agree it is not too bad here.

I would normally use portrait orientation but when you get Maya standing still you take what you can get .

Yes, but on the other hand here is a portrait not perfect in some aspects OK, but with a message, a mood... a feeling.

I tried to catch the brain work of the man (who is making handmade-wood toys)
if I had to write a title I would like "handmade, with thought" or something similar...
I think it should be better if I catched the matter of his work... but I haven't had enough space (a wall behind my shoulders)
