Hi Antonio Correia,
Thank you for the link...
But you could have waited for some more time..... for the comments from Ali's Model
( His father-in-law's comments ) about the resemblance....

Another nice picture from Alis.
Thank you for the contribution
Hi Ali,
If I may critique the picture (I know portraits aren't 'my thing', but see what you think)
I would:
Crop 8% off the top edge
Crop 4% off the left edge
Re-process so there is some more detail into the coat
Try a gentle Neat Image noise filtering to reduce what I think is a little noise in the background
I might also see whether there is anything to be gained by an even gentler Neat Image use on the skin
I'm not sure about the glove/mitten thing intruding bottom right corner, it keeps distracting from the face, it would be a shame to have to crop that much off the bottom though
It is a nice, natural, relaxed portrait though - and that's the bit I have trouble with!
Cheers,
Thanks, Dave! I agree with your suggestions.
About the Neat Image, I am using the last version now and it has so many different sliders that is so confusing, I just use the automatic default setting. I guess I need to sit down and really learn how to use this new version.
Hi Ali,
I have 6.0 Pro+, is that what you mean?
It has 5 sliders - but I have it in the simpleton's "Standard Mode", there is an Advanced Mode", but I rarely go there. Switch between them in the Tools menu.
I accomplish most of my variations by being careful what I sample on and varying the 2 Noise Reduction Amount sliders (Luminance channel and Chrominance channels).
This (also available under the Help menu) says it all: How to use Neat Image. It covers the Basic Mode.
Cheers,

Alis, this is NOT a good image ! This an EXCELLENT image !
Have you been reading the interviews to Rembrandt and Vermeer ?
Alis, you end the year with a superb picture. A very high level work.
In terms of B&W - and I know little of it - all the tone are present. The light is well directed and focused but not that much.
I am really impressed. Great great image. Congrats.
Have a 2010 with Health. All of you, son - with an O yes - wife, others and yourself.
This wish is extended to all who read and participate in my successful thread
This one is also OK but I like the other better.
Very nice Colin, what Ali plus the angle makes a nice flare.
My 2 cents...
Jack
Another great beginning for 2010.
But that green back there... Couldn't you desaturate it a bit ? May be...
Nice details on the white dress
