CS5 is faster with the same raw files ? But that is great. I have also to move to it a soon as I can.

I like your picture Alis. A shot of the action and fun going on

Soon I will be able to post some shots of my grand-son. I told you it was a guy assuming that a guy is always a boy/man but I was wrong as it can also be a girl/woman He is only 3 days old now...

You know Peter, I would place more "straws" - you do know what I want to mean, don't you ? - in front of the camera to enhance the DoF, create more depth and frame the lady all together.
And maybe the camera should me more down, to the ground, not to crop the sky but to get the hole lady creating a more homogeneous background.

Just me with my trifle details...

I like the way you worked on the photo as you have recovered the details in the shadow in spite of being a shot against the light. And speaking of light I think this was a very good position to make this shot: with the light from the back. I would have done the same. Good work.

I forgot to thank you for posting ! Thank you Peter

Oh Peter, each time you post a photo I say more and more that the people you shoot -familiars or not - look all very British. Or at least they look the way I have in my mind of British and I do have seen some in my lifetime.

Cute little guy ! And nice photo Peter

I also forgot to thank you for posting !
    Thank you Peter

I looks like it is. Of course, this is not based on any objective testing.

    Hi Antonio,

Thanks for your comments. This was taken to recreate a shot my wife remembered from when she was a child (many moons ago ). Couldn't get any more reeds in front as it would have meant sinking into the mud, not a good idea. Also shewas already lower than me and with my advancing years getting any lower would have been difficult .

Hope to get some good photos tomorrow at my sister's wedding. I'm shooting with my Fuji GA645zi on Fuji Superia 400 so should be interesting. I'm not the official photographer so have free choice on shots, wish me luck.

    Peter

It is called "Stuff at Night", so I assume it must be interesting (even when you hold it upside down)

I don't do portraits, because I think its a pretty difficult thing to do. But today I clicked a pic of my friend and I find it pretty good. C & C would be appreciated!

I think it is a good shot, very sharp and with nice tones. His shirt and the left side of his face though is overexposed that may be fix if you shot it in RAW.
The background could be less crowded but I don't think you planned this shot, I am guessing from his pose that you ambushed him

    Re: Daily paper

    Hi Sahil,

    I agree with Ali, but would add;
    a) Good crop (or excellent framing if uncropped) I don't think I would crop further to remove some of the over exposed shirt.
    b) You know what I'd do with the clone brush in Elements/CS to simplify the background - you have enough there to clone extrapolate over a lot of the distracting stuff around the edges go for it
    c) You do need to bring that shirt down a little more, I can live with it and the face being bright though if you think of it as high key - something that would be reinforced if you do the cloning which will extend the slightly dimmer background whites over the other stuff

    Cheers,

    Re: Daily paper

Thanks for the kinds words. Well the best thing I like about this pic is the sharpness and framing. I haven't cropped it. This was taken at my workplace and was totally an unplanned shot. Was just looking through the viewfinder and framed this chap and called his name. He looked at me and 'Click.'
Yes, I need to bring down the brightness of the shirt. Will work on the image, right over! Thanks once again

    Re: Daily paper

    Sahil hello
I have done my version of your portrait. Unfortunately I think it is not the bet way, or at least it is no the way I would like it to be.
In fact, I am with the iBook at my daughter's home and my iMac is having a week end at home, resting.
What have I done to the photo?
Many little operations. In LR adjustment in Exposure, then I placed that file above yours in CS4 and masked mine.
Then on yours I have unshaped mask your picture. Return to LR under another name, vignetting and crop at 3:5 with a small rotation as I usually do.
How about it ? I like what I have done. And you ? Do you like this version of mine ?

    Re: Daily paper

Hi Antonio. Thanks for the efforts. Even I had been trying my hands on the image and couldn't do much better. I wanted the shirt to remain white, but it always became grayish. Is there Anyway to keep it white while taking care of the exposure?
And I was finding it difficult to clone out the small places as there is not much room to take the source for cloning. It needs precision and time. I like what you have done to the skin tone.
    Thanks

Any Better? I blurred the corners. I feel it is looking less cluttered now. The shirt could not remain White though

Sahil - would you mind if I put up a very different approach? I like the young man's face and expression, but feel he needs a bit more "grit" for his character to show.
