One more from last night. I like this one because of the nice lighting: Canon 5D MKII using Canon 85mm F1.2 L II @ f/2 1/200s ISO 800.

Santa brought me the Canon 2X Extender III this year!

BTW, all I want from Santa for next year is a nice Macro lens. Have not decided which one yet!

Thanks Alis & Antonio, for your feedback.
Well I agree with both of you. The scene behind the man was beautiful, but wasn't good as the main subject. So thought of making this man the main subject & using the scenery as background. But yea, I really like Antonio's version A LOT..... Cropped, & B&W.

Thanks, Antonio! I am just having fun. Nothing serious

And I have to say, I get happier and happier everyday with my photography, since I am getting close to a point that I can predict what is going to come out of camera. I used to get good results from time to time, may be at the same rate now, but the difference is that it is becoming more predictable. So, if it is bad, I know before hand Isn't that nice?

Thanks, Slimtla! Are you talking about the predictability of my shots, or the picture?

I've been on a 365 Photo a Day and I am about a third of the way through. Being relatively new to photography, I've been dabbling in this and dabbling in that. I'm doing what is predictable and, maybe, a bit safe. Sometimes, though, I just enjoy taking photos of every day life. I haven't really thought them worthy of sharing but have been secretly happy that I'm getting better and better. Anyway, I think that I want to grow more in this area. May I share some pics, please? I am very much welcoming C&C - this is all so new to me. Please tell me if there is something big and obvious that I'm missing.

I am going to start off breaking the rule of one photo per post. (Well, it's sort of one photo. I like both the B&W and the antiqued version.

This is my youngest, sweet son, Toby! I think that what is happening is obvious.

I should probably, also, add that I use iphoto which is very basic. I try to translate people's pp advice in the best way that I can. Happily, acquiring Photoshop is supposed to be on the agenda for this month. Then, I'll really be in the soup.

edit: You know, I usually (lately, anyway) take my metering and focus off of the forehead or the cheek right under the eye. Here, though, does it look like the stuffed animal is what is beautifully in focus and exposed?

Before commenting your images Katy, allow me to sugest that you should consider Lightroom instead of Photoshop. At least for the time being.
Or even Aperture as you - as I do - use Mac.
Photoshop is a complex - is it ? - program with a slow learning curve while LR is more intuitive.

LR has the great advantage of being directly connected with Photoshop and vice versa. Perhaps LR is or can be, the step towards CS5.
I went to iPhoto because of you and it is really simple but good.
Better yet: listen to the others about this matter and the way LR adjusts to your kind of photography (at this moment).

I have to go now. I'll be back

Thanks, Antonio! After all of the discussion around here about this, now that it's my turn, I'm not sure what to do. I only know that iphoto is limiting me a bit. I do have help for photoshop, though, and we own it. I will certainly take your suggestion and look into it! (I am feeling like photoshop is looming! )
