Hello, Gerald. I like your idea on the 1st image. A single tree on a white background is really a strong image. As a suggestion I'd probably straighten the tree a little bit on the vertical. Also, more contrast would probably make the tree stand out on the frame. And lastly, it wouldn't hurt if you put the tree on the 1/3 side from the right edge of the frame. Something like this:

It's a subjective thing. The tree trunk seems to be leaning to the right a little bit. I just thought that straightening it would make it 'better'. Again, a subjective point of view.
