    Not there yet. Possibly I have been selecting Copy Image Link instead of Copy Image Address.

    that might be it. The address you need should look like the one in post 17 (mine on previous page).

    It's there but the image has been resized downwards. The original was 800 pixels wide. Maybe I have to ensure that I am viewing an enlarged image not the thumbnail before selecting the address.

    That is enough for today - my brain is beginning to hurt now. I will have another think tomorrow when I'm more alert.

    Thanks for the help.

    OK, after reading the advice from Colin & Davey and doing a bit of thinking, I'll give it one more attempt to show the successful egret with a fish in it's beak.

    Think I have selected the correct size image and found a different address by clicking Open Image before copying the address.

    Hi Geoff,

    You're on pbase, you don't want to be copying the jpg url from a right click on the open image, or the image properties box, or the main address bar at the top.

    If Opera supports tabs then have one with C-in-C and one with PBase, if not, then two windows.

    Log into PBase, get the picture you want on screen by itself
    Across the top, above the picture, is a row of words which say;
    crustacean | all galleries >> Miniature Monsters - ???? 2008 > [COLOR="PaleGreen"]edit image
    Click on that last one 'edit image' and in the white web page that opens, in the top right corner of the page, just below the 'Next' link, is the direct linking URL spelt out for you (it is quite small). For example;
    http://www.pbase.com/crustacean/imag...615/medium.jpg
    This text is what you need to highlight (with mouse) and copy to clipboard.
    Then (in the other tab) to paste it into the pop up that appears when you click the Insert image button, here at C-in-C.

    As you do that paste, if you want to set the size of the image in the inline post; change the end from "/medium.jpg" to be "/large.jpg" or "/original.jpg" as necessary.
    e.g. http://www.pbase.com/crustacean/imag...5/original.jpg

    This isn't the right pic I know, but I hope it will point the way.

    Good luck,

    Re: Spider focusing quandry

    I may be missing something here but I can't find any address in the top right corner. But when, after checking image size, I then click Open Image I get a new address in the main central address bar (or whatever the correct name for it is) then copy and paste using the insert icon here appears to work.

    Not really sure if I am being obtuse or just a naturally difficult old so & so. However my current alternative method does appear to work. But I will go back to PBase and have another look.

    One alternative thought. I am using Opera as a browser and they do do some things differently. One of their few advantages is that they have a rather strong security system and a lot of things which they consider to be suspicious gets blocked, even the totally innocent stuff.

    On a totally different subject. If I may be allowed to appear a right 'clevercloggs' for a minute. Chelseablue's photo of the Indian dragonfly is a Pied Paddy Skimmer. No, I didn't make it up, that's the real name.

    ps. In reality, thanks are due to some of my friends on www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk for the identification.

    Anyway thanks again for the image posting advice.

    Geoff.

    Geoff,

    I have edited the post above with real examples now, see if it makes more sense.

    Cheers,

    I think the most important missing word, Dave, was 'small'. I was looking for a substantial box type structure which I had to click; instead of a tiny line which I had to click and drag before copying. And changing medium or small to say original has to be done after selecting the insert icon here, I think!

    Let's try one final time. An ichneumon wasp with an itchy back.
