I use SmugMug too. You need to view your shot in Smug then select SHARE then GRAB A LINK, then choose XLARGE. Go to CiC post here and click the 'insert image' icon and paste in the link. You probably didn't do the last bit, so it has put URL tags around your image link, which is why it has come out as a link, instead of an image.
