Best Prime Lens

The 24/2.8 would qualify to be sharp used wide open according to comments from those I trust – I have not used this lens

I can fire off some test shots and share the results with it on my 7D (or 40D) if it's any use?

I'm not sure I've used it wide open but it's very good at f/4. The AF works fine IMHO. Origionally I got it as a wide on 35mm but use it as my standard-ish lens these days.
