Re: portrait in a bar
Ha! Pretty interesting shot.. 0.5 secs huh! Was the camera hand-held?! Pretty steady. I am really finding this shot interesting. Only thing I am not finding right is the shadow in left bottom corner. & arm of the chair. All in all its a nice moody shot...

Re: portrait in a bar
Hi Neil,
The tattoo looks pretty sharp and very eye-catching. You might want to consider shifting the frame to the right a bit more so that the left elbow would not be cut out and the person would fill up the frame.
I think you should also try a faster shutter speed in order to catch the expression of the face.
Cheers,

Re: portrait in a bar
Guys, Yes I agree the left hand side is a bit so so but I was just a bit lazy
The longer timing was deliberate, I didn't want to see the face clearly, for me it is more interesting shot in those way although I can understand others may like to see the features.
It was handheld but i just rested the butt of the camera on a table and shot without using the viewfinder. Pretty easy with a wide angle lens.
Thanks for your comments...
Neil

Re: portrait in a bar
I like the idea. I think the image is strong and has its own unique appeal. Probably, my only small suggestion would be to introduce some white balance correction. Nice work, Neil! Good job!
