I think maybe I'm okay (?) so long as I am using Aperture, which I understand as a lossless editing program (until you save the RAW file to another format). It actually has the ACR conversion built in, although I have been letting Nikon Transfer do the conversion since I read somewhere that the Adobe algorithms might not interpret everything perfectly (like I'd notice, heh, heh). I have been doing the white balance correction in Aperture, but it's been hit and miss, so I really should discipline myself to use a grey card. (Tip for Tony: don't buy the big awkward ones like I did, get the little ones on a sling that are easy to carry around.)
