I really like them. Congrats on the new equipment I think the background is fine for these, yeah, you'd probably want something more formal for formal portraits, but I think if you introduced a formal background, I think you might lose the 'relaxed' feeling of the kids playing with the dog. Also, I would imagine white dog fur has a fair amount of challenges when it comes to flash photography, for the most part the exposures look pretty decent (to my untrained eye anyway)

Nice shots, especially the first one. Both daughter and dog have great expressions. I like the skin tones too. You might try a closer crop around daughter and dog faces. Perhaps with masking you can subdue the background which is a bit distracting.

The white dog really isn't too bad - I was shooting these with everything in manual and looking at histograms and my LCD for metering
