    Hello Folks,
Thanks for the votes. I have no idea what it was about the seagull that made me put it in the comp – may I ask what people see in it ?

    Regards,

    Nick.

For me, it was the angle and level at which you captured the image....it's sharp and exceptionally detailed...I think we are all envious of your ability to capture such precise detail in all your shots.

    Chris,
Thanks for the reply, and the compliment. I have made some good progress in the five or so years I've been doing photography seriously - there was and is plenty of room for improvement. That said, I've made no progress in assessment of my work. I'm OK with other peoples work – but my own – well forget it.

    Regards,

    Nick.

Thanks Nasseem. The rig used was a 400L f5.6 on a 5D. That's the small “forgotten” 400. I shall never be able to afford a 600, and anyway I doubt I could lift it!

    Regards,

    Nick.

Thank you Nick. Nice setup anyway. I go to the gym 2-3x/wk and do some resistance training and still find
a days shooting even with a 70-200 like a workout. Keep thopse nice shots coming. Good work.

    Good one Nick
For me it was the wing position relative to the eye that did it. And of course, the overall sharpness and clarity.
Can't compete with you just now ... not too many birds flying around up here just now!

Thanks Ron. Don't worry - spring will be here soon enough - then I'll be in trouble
