Printed images and sharpening.

I'm going to get some quite large prints of my images soon - certainly A3 but possibly up to A2 - and wondered if the sharpening I have applied to them in PS may show up in a negative way when they are enlarged. Is this something I can check on-screen or is the proof purely in the printing? Any ideas anyone?

zooming in on the image will give you an indicator if the sharpening will be noticeable, but once the image has been printed you have some control over how the final print is viewed. If you can keep the image a safe distance away from the viewer then minute inspection is limited.

Thanks for the advice. The images will be for sale and available for close scrutiny so it sounds like care will be needed with my sharpening technique. Just good to know that what I see on screen will atleast go some way to indicating if ive pushed it too far.

Why not crop a part of the picture, and print the crop at the same magnification as used in A2, then print at 7 x 5 so save lots of money.
