Slick job, Nick. I'd like to know your technique for that imagery.

    Chris and Nasseem,

This is a composite image, generated from five exposures (-2 through +2) in photomatix. What gives it what I consider an almost "gritty" feel is the following process (I use the Gimp):
    -duplicate the background layer
    -convert the duplicate to B&W
-set blend mode to "overlay" and adjust opacity to suit taste
-to remove some of the "cartoony-ness" of the image I lower the saturation until I like what I see.

Sometimes, in addition to the B&W layer, I overlay a duplicate layer which has had a guassian blur. The opacity on that layer would be quite low, maybe 30%? This adds some nice softness, and you can regain the clarity of the image while keeping the added softness by overlaying another duplicate layer that has been run through a high-pass filter (in the gimp you have to download high-pass filter, as it doesn't come with it. In photoshop I believe it's located under generic->high pass filter).

The lens I used for this shot was the Canon 18-55 kit lens, out at 18mm. This made the church in the original shot appear to lean to the left... This was corrected with the "perspective" tool, The image was squeezed in at the bottom and pulled out at the top.

    Re: Double Sun

Thank you Nick. I have tried Photomatics and bracketing which is great bit of software. The rest went
straight over my head. I have to learn layers/masks. I have not got to that stage of the game yet. I am
sure Chris wont have any trouble deciphering it.

    Thanks again.

    Nasseem
