I have a 28-105mm lens...what size UV filters and lens hood would I need? Can't seem to figure this one out.
Thanks!

Okay, I figured out I need 58mm filters.
Anyone know about the lens hood?
Sarah
What make of lens is it? You'd need to go onto the manufacturers website or that of a reputable online retailer to find out which hood is made for that lens.
Thanks, Donald.
It's a Canon EF 28-105, 3.5-4.5
This is the hood you need.
Thanks!
Do you know if I can get a generic or cheaper one? Or would I even want to?
Don't know about cheaper or generic. You'd need to do a search on that. But probably someone else on here will know the answer.
There are many folk on here who would argue that you should always have a hood fitted. I tend not to use them as I have the square filter system ring adapters fitted to my lenses all the time, so that I can quickly move the filter holder from one lens to the other. With these fitted, you can't fit a hood. The one that I do use the hood on more often than the others is the Tokina 11-16 f2.8.
There are any number of 58mm third party lens hoods available on eBay at pretty inexpensive prices. I use a third party lens hood on my 17-55mm f/2.8 IS lens, which at a thousand + U.S. dollar price, should have come with a hood, and I have encountered no problems using such a hood. It is not flocked inside the hood but, the interior is non-reflective. It stays on the lens every bit as well as the OEM hoods and the images I shoot don't know if I am using the overpriced Canon OEM hood or the reasonably priced Chinese knockoff. I have a feeling that the Chinese manufacturers just bought a Canon hood and copied it. They did a pretty good job but, casting a plastic hood is not exactly rocket science technology...

I think that one of the reasons I am seldom bothered with flare is that I regularly use a hood.
Thanks, Richard! I'll look into those. I think I'll take my camera with me lens hood shopping so I can "try them on" and see how they fit.
The ideal hood will depend on the crop factor of the camera. See how to control flare in CIC tutorials
