Hi, I keep reading that you should shoot in RAW and I do but then many say convert your photos to DNG or dng (what's the differance between DNG and dng)
But what advantages are there from RAW to DNG/dng?:
In plain english please!!!
Thanks
Russ

In terms of what is in the file you will have more information in the RAW file, but the DNG format is *supposed* to be camera and software independent. At the moment the RAW file is closer to being software independent but some have concerns on whether that will continue as camera manufactures have to change their RAW format sometimes due to hardware changes.
As to the DNG/dng confusion they are identical, almost any format can have either upper or lower case extension.

Adobe have a page dedicated to just this question http://www.adobe.com/products/dng/
