Andrea, I think I prefer the color....the B&W lacks a dramatic black and white contrast and is more into greys...just my opinion....

I am just learning macro, bought my first lens recently (Sigma 150mm - older model, no VR) for Nikon D7000). Still don't have an off-camera flash, but will be purchasing one soon. These might not be great, but I am impressed with the detail! Here in Vermont, Spring is just springing into action, so the plants and flowers are just now coming to life.

These are flowers found in some moss on a rock.
Still need a lot of practice, but have to start somewhere!

It's nice to see that detail in your photos suddenly, isn't it? There is a lot to discover still.
Finally some blossom here. This is always one of the first to come, but it is quite delicate. After a week or two and a bit of wind they will all be gone.

Gone now.
Beautiful shots Peter, the old roses are very interesting and I love the 3rd shot of the blossoming tree. Is it a plum?
Here is a plum from Tuscany

The intent of the B&W was indeed that of pushing the structure of the petals. But the color version looks nice too. As usually it happens my wife and me have different opinions. I like more the B&W version, she likes more the colours one...
Thanks for the comment.

It isn't a plum, more an ornamental shrub. The sortname is prunus.
But we do have a plum in the garden as well and it flowered a week after the other (pink) one.

The flowers look almost the same and are the same size as the other. This one will have plums though in a few months time.
In my area, your blossom "prunus" is called a flowering plum....although we never have fruit on it, perhaps because we have the wrong climate, but it is mostly used as an ornamental shrub/tree....and then we have fruit trees that bear plums....
I took these shots yesterday during our excursion to Pizzo Deta, in the group of Mounts Ernici, Apennines, not far from Rome.

#1 should be a wild orchid, #2 I do not know.

I like number two best, lovely little flowers. That 25mm lens is very nice.
It's dull and rainy, but I took out the macro ring flash and the 105mm Nikkor lens on the daisy...funny how the ring flash puts two eyes in the raindrops....

Quite nice with those drops hanging there.
