Stumbled on the field of sunflowers, not typical in my area.

I love my 100mm macro and I am always trying to get closer. What do you think?Macro flower photographs

Bryan and Louise, I enjoyed both of your photos --even though sunflowers are not my favourite flowers!

Peter, good depth of field in the rhodo photo. Was it a longish exposure with the aperture stopped well down?

    Re: Macro flower photographs

I'm new to the CIC forum but I thought that I might as well jump right in. I hope that I am doing it right.
I have been very impressed with some of the work on this thread. These two are a couple of the ones I took this week of the Hydrangea in my front yard.

    I guess not.

Attempt number two. Hopefully it will work this time.

    Sorry about that.

Ian, welcome to CiC and congratulations on the hydrangea photos. My favourite is probably the first. Were these handheld or with a tripod?

Aperture was at F/11, but I think the size of the flower may play a role here. It looks delicate, but is quite big actually. That would help the impression of DOF of course.

Ian, that blue is pretty blue. It is good to have that leaf there for colour comparison, otherwise one might think it wasn't real. Very nice and I actually like the composition of that green and blue together.

    Welcome Ian
As Bruce I tend to prefer the first, but the second has a nice colour contrast.

Just notice that the edges of the petals are very visible. That is the flower itself, not any sharpening in PP. I don't do sharpening anymore.
