There have been some really good shots, lately, but these last two, the Helleborus and the Amaryllis are just outstanding in sharpness and detail. WOW!
A couple of flowers from my flower chest. I think these were taken with my Canon.
Beautiful, Emmett!
Due to medical problems starting on 11/15/2011 and the last one an eye cataract surgery on 2/23/2012 I have missed looking at many beautiful pictures. Especially after my eye cataract surgery and the special Toric lens. This new lens is also able to focus, the old version not. The colors I see today I have not seen for about 1 to 2 years. Red is more red, green is more green and I also see more depth. I still needs eye drops for another month.
But let move on.
I enjoy looking at the macro-close up pictures on this thread and want to add some of mine that I just start doing.
I like to improve this part of photography, so please give me comments. The first ones are my favorite "Bird of Paradise"
Here'e some shots I took over the weekend, I know the DOF in the first pic is a bit shallow but I kinda like it

Ronny, first of all it is good to hear that you can finally enjoy the colours after your operation. Hope you make a full recovery. I can't imagine how it is to suddenly see colours after years of missing them, but I guess it will make you happy.
You have a few posts, so my comment is aimed at all of them, not just this one. I like the way you photograpgh the flowers. There is not much background to distract me from the main subject. I have a feeling that some of your photos could be slightly sharper here and there and I think this is just a matter of post processing, as I can see the sharpness in them.
It might be my taste in this, so don't take it too serious. If you like them like this it is fine, for me it could be just a bit more here and there.
I love the last photo of this post, the yellow flower. The two layers of petals look special.

Thank for the good wishes. Seeing the colors better was a really eye-opener.

I always feel the need to improve and keep trying to get the best out of my Canon gear. I might buy some Topaz filters like Adjust, InFocus, Detail and Dejeg and see what I can reach with my existing images.

Thank you, you give me another idea.
I've been playing with extension tubes on my 105 mm Nikkor and I can see that it is going to be a while before things get intuitive in terms of lens-to-subject distance in relation to aperture. But this is where I am now. C&C welcome. I know what I don't like, but don't want to bias you, so I'll keep mum for now. If you see any dust spots, rest assured that the camera is going into the shop on Monday.
Janis, I think they look pretty good for macros. Yellow is a difficult colour sometimes, because there can be a lack of contrast. You have enough of that though, so the texture can be seen clearly. Aperture looks fine to me as well, nice sharpness overall.
The only thing I would do is try to get the yellow a bit more in PP, maybe through saturation. Looking forward to your other efforts.
