Went for a walk today...
Hello All,
Played with Aperture after talking the below photo. I'm not sure of the border color though. I'm not completely satisfied with the aperture size either. I think the background could have been slightly more blurred. Anyway, I look forward to your thoughts and critics.

Erik
I think the border is a bit weak. But that's a minor point.
My initial thought/question was - Does the bird actually detract from the image? It's beautifully captured (the bird), but does it add anything to the image?
If you 'see' the image without the bird in it, I think you're actually talking about a very, very strong image. That ice flow has enough interest in its own right. And, 'No', I wouldn't have wanted to blur the background any more. I think the fact that the ice is so close into land and we can clearly distinguish it as land, rather than just a blur, is part of its strength.
I really like it.

I was thinking the same thing, Donald. This image can look "stronger" without the bird.

Perhaps a different crop would work. As it is, the bird may be too small to really have interest. The ice is interesting too.

Very interesting. Myself, when I first looked at the picture, I thought the bird helped the photo. Course, it is too small. Unfortunately, the other photos I took don't have the shore in the frame. But I'm working on another photo now.
Thanks for the comments.

This is another I took while out by the water. I've lighten up the exposure slightly in Aperture. Again there is a bird.
