Lens dilemma
I shoot wildlife/sports photos. Currently, I use Canon 500mm f4 on tripod. For hand held I'm using 100-400 zoom. I want a faster lens to shoot indoor hockey/basketball games. I am thinking of getting the f2.8 70-200 II zoom. I figure that would be a good lens for the indoor stuff. And I could use it with 1.4 TC & 2 TC for handheld stuff outdoor. Does anyone know if I would lose IQ with this combo compared to the 100-400mm zoom?

Re: Lens dilemma
Hi Dennis,
In a word, no.
The original 70-200 F2.8L IS USM with TC2.0 was identical to the EF100-400 once you got past about F11, but the new 70-200 F2.8L IS USM II is much sharper - I use it with both TC1.4 & 2.0 v2 and it's very good -- I image with the new v3 teleconverters it would be better still.
A couple of recent examples ...
With TC1.4x
With TC2.0 ...

Re: Lens dilemma
Thanks Colin. That's what I needed to know. Excellent detail in your bird pics. I've taken some very good pics with the 100-400 but I need the speed of the 2.8. Thanks again.
