Can you say if you've clicked on the 'View Tag Cloud' button at the bottom of these messages, chosen 'Weddings' and read the previous threads?
If so, then there will be no need for people to re-run all that's been said in those - because there has been a lot.
the photographers in this organization play by a different set of rules.

My neice's wedding is mid April, on equipment, I can say I am ready. Canon 7D, 24-70mm 2.8, 70-200mm 2.5, Sigma 50mm 1.2....
After seeing all the information on this forum, some photo books, and more different photo forums, it is my latest decision:
(1) Don't presume the tools can secure a successful wedding project. as Wedding photo is an art of equipments plus years of experience.
Experience means camera technique plus an artistic mind.
(2) So, why struggle with the main photographer which already paid and hired by the bride and groom? While they got paid and need the best angle, position and environment to make the job perfect.
(3) Then, eventually, i decided still bring along my equipment. But, mainly take more photos on my family, my neice's family, my flower girl - my daughter. as the bride and groom should be well take care of by the main photographer - whom supposed to satisfy the bride and groom.
(4) Then, I will not have odd moment with the main photographer. Step aside and when chance comes, can also use my 70-200mm and close up some bride and groom shots in the balcony around 20 ft away. Then I totally can not disrupt the church stage.
With all the readings, I learned I still can have fun and learn with my equipments in the same occasion while no stress in struggling with the perfect wedding photos.
I told myself that in these days, buying equipments is far more easier (when price is keep coming down in opening of the prosumer market) while still need the same amount of time, practise, thousands of shots before I can boldly say I can stand "next to or even in front of a pro. wedding photographer.....)

I think you are taking a very sensible and appropriate approach. You are doing this for pleasure and will be doing things that the hired professional will not be doing. So you can stay in background and enjoy what you are doing, whilst the hired professional takes all the strain and tension.
thanks, Donald:
It is the many forums like here that let me as a photographer hobbiest learn how to enjoy the hobby without unnecessary stress and challenge with belongs to the pro.!!
thanks
Harumph! Another little quirk of the site just discovered. It does all these little things that you never find out about until the issue actually comes up, someone tries it and it doesn't work!
I'm going to PM Sean and draw this to his attention.
New day, new login and the tag cloud link appears so unless you did something behind the scenes it seems it's not just a matter of reaching 10 posts, there also has to be a delay of about 24hr before the extra privileges associated with 10 posts actually kick in.
