I like the clematis blossom and the leaves around it but the bright background in the lower left quadrant and leaves in the lower left corner are distracting. Possibly cropping off the left 25% or so of the photo might help. Possibly brightening the blossom relative to the rest of the photo might also help.
Chris, keep the detail from the original and just apply some burning on the background. On the 2nd image, I think you've lost all those subtle detail on the white petals that makes it striking. Now it looks bright (but still not creamy bright) but it looks too ordinary. I missed those subtle backlighting on the green leaves that looks very nice from the original one. C'mon, you can do it.
Gracias, senor...(I don't know how to make the little dingy-thingy (dunuo?) go over the n, but know it is supposed to be there).
What's especially nice about this redo is I learned a new PP trick, again, quite by accident, but it worked wonderfully for this image and is ten times easier than doing a layer mask. It is a trick I've not seen in any PP book, so am wondering if I haven't made PS do something new...whoohoo. Gotta love dumb luck!
