I liked the subtle orange light in the treetops in the first one. It seems to be gone now.

But hey, you can't please everybody...

Hmmmmmmmmmmm...it always seems when you want one thing, you have to sacrifice something else in return for that payoff...I posted the final of this in one of the Mini Comps..go have a look at it and see if I didn't get some of that finer color detail, back.

    I love these threads ...
As a new photographer (<4months), I learn allot and am challenged by the competitions and critiques. However, when I enter I get few votes if any (I dare not dream of leading). Even if from dumb luck, a few of the shots may have been decent. I've come to learn to accept the subjectivity of the competitions. Instead I am working on consistency and determining what type of photography I enjoy most.

It's comforting to know that a seasoned photographer questions the responses to entries as well.

The engineer in me wants quantitative results. I think this is why I have been and remain interested in photography, because it stretches me by not having completely clear, logical, repeatable, critiques. And who doesn't like to be stretched. I've always said that I am a little short for my weight And it challenges me to strive to reach a point where a photo does convey the moment.

    So, thanks.

Well, if it is any consolation, I was on here for several months before I won a competition. I go back now ans look at the work I submitted in the beginning and it's no wonder they didn't get many votes...this is a absolutely perfect training ground for any level photographer. I know that since I joined CiC, I've probably 10-folded my PP time and 20-folded my shooting time. Practice indeed makes perfect......eventually.

Chris it is a consolation to hear you even went through all what some of us are going through right now. It
has certainly paid off for you. I love your work. Technically, you do great work and that is what I and many
others are striving for. Please keep them coming so we one day may be in your shoes instructing others.
