The image is fine but depending on your PP skills it might benefit from applying a GND filter as the colours fade a little at the top, or at least some selective darkening to the tarmac in the background and clone out the yellow writing to keep attention on the beautiful car.
Thanks for posting here.

Re: Motorsport Pics - Post Them Here
Derek, I had a quick play around with your image. What do you think to this?
I hope you don't mind, if so let me know and I will remove it.
Cheers

Thank you for the comments, thank God for continuous shooting!
As for petrol head, I love to take pictures of things that burn high octane fuel on land sea or air, although I must admit the 'sea' part of that statement is sadly lacking from my portfolio!:)

I agree about the posts but the busy background is a difficult trade off to have. Maybe with a bit more time spent on it both posts could stay and the background zapped a bit.
It still is a brilliant shot regardless.:)

Here are a couple I took at our local Vintage Grand Prix last summer. I fully intend on heading out there again this summer and trying again (to correct some of last year's many mistakes).

Ok, so an unusual crop may be called for like:

And if that still leaves a distracting background, I suppose we could try something like:

Or maybe that's too much!

Nice shots Bill
You appear to have had a very low viewpoint which is difficult to get at many of the UK circuits unless you have a press badge:(
I prefer the first shot as it gives me more of a sense of movement as though the car is drifting out of the frame. The second shot looks a bit soft which is a shame but it is a nice angle.
Nice motors too:)

I like the picture content but also find the frame a little distracting, especially at each end; the picture is so dramatic in its own right, the frame hardly seems necessary.

Hi Steve, thanks for your kind comments.... I don't usually use frames, but your shots used them so I thought I try one here and with the huge clouds of dust kicked up at one side, glass shattering out of the side window, the general chaos of the shot and the bale of straw breaking apart on the other the "fuzzy edged" frame, although the first I came to seemed semi appropriate! Hey Ho :D.
I hope to get out tomorrow for some more stage rally shooting at a generally not a very interesting local venue BUT ..... you never know!
You have really done well panning the shots which you have posted, a great sense of speed, very well done and your framing makes them highly suitable for wall prints.

Thanks Derek,
I saw Steve's frames and thought they looked good so added one myself [see comments above].
You have a really good capture from Snetterton, I haven't been recently but there is strong rumour of my motor club using it again for stage rallies so it will be good to get there again!
I agree with Steve's comment on the DoF issue, but soooo hard to control for an action shot like that. Often it's a case of getting the shot and working on it afterwards. Trying to use too shallow a DoF when incidents may involve several vehicles might result in "tears" when you have the shot but it's out of focus - better done in post processing?
Keep up the good work, I may see you trackside one day :D - RobO
Re: Motorsport Pics - Post Them Here
Hi Rob
Don't get me wrong I think a frame would still suit this image but I have found that less is very often more especially when displaying online. I would very rarely have an image printed with a frame as I would rather do that with a proper frame when hanging it.
I just thought the frame/border you chose was a little busy when the image is very busy anyway. i tend to see the frame as just creating a window to look through at the image really.
The picture is so good a simple frame would just top it off in my very humble opinion:)
Thanks for your comments on my shots and good luck getting out again today. I look forward to seeing some more shots.
Cheers
Steve

Motor racing can be quite expensive!
http://i54.tinypic.com/35i2h6p.jpg
Apparently, when interviewed after the race, George stated he thought he had a puncture, he didn't realise he'd lost the wheel and most of the rear suspension! Really in tune with his machine!

I love the mk1 and 2 escorts. Someone parked a MK1 mexy in my street a few weeks ago but by the time I had grabbed my camera it had gone. My wife just didn't understand my pain:o
Second shot is sharper and I like the way the white nose is just creeping into the shot. It makes me chuckle when compared to the first shot. The bloke is all kitted out with helmet, suit, rollcage etc. The girl just looks like she is heading to the sales:D:D
Santa pod is only about 5 miles from where I live but I hardly ever go there. Must give it a go.
Cheers
