Helpful Posts: I am looking to get a lense for my D90.
To use with surf photography from the shore, i can get within 25-30m of the action at the local surf spot.
What would be a recomended lense for this 200 or 300?
pretty new to this so dont want to spend heaps yet but want good quality.
Any advice?

According to the "Required Focal Length Calculator" a subject 30m far and 2m tall requires a 351.3 mm focal length on a Nikon crop sensor oriented vertically.
If you're cheap, you might be looking for the Nikon 70-300 f4-5.6g for about $125 USD. I'd imagine the next step up being the AF-S VR version ($540 USD) but the price jump is a little excessive for an AF motor and VR system, especially since your D90 is already motor driven.Last edited by pwnage101; 19th April 2011 at 01:32 AM.
