    Well done Mark.
Can you answer just one question, and that is why you chose to convert this image with what appears to be a 'water colour' filter? The composition, exposure and black & white conversion are terrific, and worthy of a win in this mini comp without the filter. Cheers.

I'm surprised that this didn't do better. It's very original, and very unusual. It seems to me to make a statement about real feminity.

I take it that it was shot at 90deg then rotated?

    Re: Windmill in Wales

Hi Mike, first, thanks to every one that voted. Confession time, the picture was taken in 1993 using my then 8yr old Pentax MX. Having nothing better to do or getting out much I decided to spend my time scanning my old stuff. What this has shown me is that I need a better scanner/software. By the time I had removed the noise I was left with a water colour effect. I'll post the original and let others play with it.

Well you had a good eye for a photo in 1993 Mark !!
When I first looked at your comp entry I thought that I was seeing artifacts but the larger view convinced me it was a paint effect. It all makes sense now.
You have reminded me that I have hundreds of slides awaiting the scanning process. I even bought myself a Dimage Scan Dual IV negative/slide scanner for the purpose before they went off the market. Oh well, one day ... watch this space, but don't hold your breath!!

    Re: Windmill in Wales

Mike, it's a very lucky capture. Lots of cloud, as you would expect for North Wales. The cloud was moved along by a strong wind and every now and then a ray of sun would appear in the breaks. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. A minute sooner or a minute later and I would have missed the windmill being highlighted by the sun. It must be me getting old, I really do prefer the colour of the prints, that was the only thing that transferred from print to digital correctly. Hope you do get the time to transfer some of your slides.

I understand what you are saying. I love the immediacy of digital and the opportunity to drop in and out of the editing process but there is still something about film, which was largely either slide or black and white in my case. Although another former Pentax owner (Spotmatic F and MG) I'm now on the Nikon bandwagon and often fancy buying a secondhand F5 to give film another crack.

Thanks a lot for the comment Rob, well it's part of a serie that I took in early february, and you're right, the pic was rotated I wanted the picture had a surreal effect, and I really like your interpretation, if you're interested, this is part of a series you can see here: http://shadowness.com/AndreaMelendez

I appreciate your words, sincere thanks!
