A wee timorous beastie, me that is; not the subject!

Saw this little chap on a patch of concrete outside the back door this morning and thought to myself, "Hey. Why not?"
The hardest part of lining up the shot was getting my old bones prone on the concrete path to get up close for a side view shot before the subject hopped it. My knees and elbows are still tingling from concrete contact.
Not having a macro lens and not knowing my knee from my elbow on these matters I used a zoom kit lens for the shots. I reckoned it was just a matter of 'getting focused and going for brokeh!'

I wonder if #3 is just a bit over-exposed? You've got the detail beautifully.

Hi Ken, nice going on all 3. I love #2 for the simplicity of the background, same with #3 but as already mentioned it seems a bit bright. It's interesting to see just how shallow the DOF is when looking at the cement. All 3 are great shots but I think # 2 would have been a gem if the focus could have been just a bit sharper on the eye.
Great shots though and congratulations on getting up.

You were able to get those shots with just the kit lens?!? Amazing! I wish I could do even half as well. I did order a DR-6 right angle viewfinder for my Nikon so maybe there is some hope yet for these aching bones!

You have done a great job here with composition, Bokeh, and exposure. I would just like to add one
constructive comment. Try and focus on the eyes next time. I feel that if the eyes are out of focus it spoils
the shot. Everythinbg else is spot on.
