Hi All,

I would appreciate some comments on this image.

Do you guys feel there is a lack of contrast between the background and the main subject??

Any other comments generally greatly appreciated.

I think that's a superb image.

I know what you're getting at in your question about contrast, but I think it's fine. You've got the focusing and the lighting on the dog so 'spot-on' and the depth-of-field managed so well, that the image is strong enough to carry any similarity in tone. In fact, I think it contrbutes to a harmonious and balanced over all image.

The only one question I would raise is whether it is too tightly cropped at the top. If you have cropped the top, what does it look like if you put just a bit more of teh image back so that the top of the dog's head isn't quite so close to the top of the frame? I wonder if it might contribute to an even better compositional balance?

But, it's a beauty.

Eon, thats a very nice image. Its well focused, exposed.
But you can definitely try , just what Donald has suggested, OR, you can crop it tighter and exclude a li'l bit of the dog's head from the frame.

That's a great compliment Donald, Thankyou.... The sun was in front of the dog and low and I used fill flash. I took another shot (similar pose) in colour which looked OK IMHO but felt the mono had more texture.

The mono shot was taken in Aperture Priority and the colour shot in Manual Mode.

Beautiful dog and very nice photos.Agree that you might want to try a crop with more space above the dog in the B+W photo.
I like the colour shot for the pose and the lighting.
Is this a Rhodesian Ridgeback?

No.... he's a Hungarian Vizsla (called Bert) and a trained gun dog.
