That is very good. I think it's easy to get this sort of thing very wrong. But you've got just the right amount of movement in proportion to the time that the shutter was open. And the light-coloured strip at the bottom of the sleeve works well to give very clear movement, along with the person's head.
I'm sure people would find it helpful if you posted up exactly how you did it.
I love it...I love motion in general but when such a nice figure movement is captured in this manner, I am always quite impressed.
Very.
Very.
Awesome.

Wow, great shot.
Did you flash continuously?
Very cool picture.
thanks to everyone's encouraging comments.
It was lit by the modeling light of two AB800s. Camera left is an AB800 in brolly box, Camera right is an AB800 with 30° grid. set up shot here

the exposure was controlled by speed of the movement and the length of time in which I hold my position.
Great!
Love the movement. Love the creativity. Love that the shot is personal. Love the execution.
Great work
indeed a awesome picture
That's motion! Cool and I wanna learn that!!
Super cool! What kind of martial art do you practice? I love looking at set up shots.
Great shot.
Congratulations! We can really see various steps of the movement in this picture and you almost captured your 'shout' =)
Now I understand why some say that self-control is a key point in martial arts
I actually practice TKD, but knowing white uniform will not work for this shot, I picked a Kung Fu uniform. The first challenge was figuring out a movement that would fit inside the frame then was the timing for exposure. The hardiest part was to hold the last part steady for two seconds while counting and holding my mouth wide open. Thank goodness for digital! It took me over 100 shots to get one keeper.
Been watching Joe McNally videos on KelbyTraining.com by any chance?
