I think you have a very good eye and timing when it comes to portrait photography, Matthew. All your shots are keepers! Very well done, Sir. #5 for me, too as the best among the series.
Shot #1 - He looks rebellious. Is he practising for when he's a teenager?
Shot #4 - He must be practising for when the girls start chasing him!
Well observed.
I love Shot #1 & 5.
Thank you for the comments it's hard to get a 2 yr old to focus! I'm loving the nifty fifty used in shot 1!
I think they're all excellent. My favourite is No 5.
I can only endorse what others have said above. That is a mighty impressive set of images. I certainly take a lot, in terms of learning, from how you have shot these.
In #3, there's a little bit of sand or water just to the rear of the back of his neck, glistening. I'd clone that out. And maybe the same thing just in front of the bridge of his nose.

Thankyou Donald shot 3 was taken on a beach in Majorca last September about a week of owning my canon 550d and is heavily sharpened (I have since learned allot about sharpening). Never noticed those reflections before but now you have pointed them out I find them distracting so thanks
compositions are great, love the tones as well
3 looks better vertical i think
Matthew, most has been said above. These are a really nice set of images. Love the processing.
Thanks for the comments
Awesome clarity on his eyes on #1 and yes #5, perfect timing!
