Waterproof point and Shoot

My brother is after a waterproof camera for travelling with just a point and shoot,
No experience in photography.
Looking at the Panasonic Lumix FT10 is this alright or are there better models in this price range?

Any camera which has a lens that moves in and out will be less water-resistant than those with a stationary lens. A friend of mine has gone swimming off a gondola in Venice the last two times she was there. She just replaced her camera(s) with one of the Nikon P series with a fixed (mechanically) lens.
