Re: Girl in a field
It's a very good shot situation, Steve, and I really like the general look of it. But the hair across her face looks too intrusive. A really nice general effect though.

Re: Girl in a field
The white of the flowers is way blown out and the girl's hair blocks any emotional contact I might have made with her..so, for me, it's "back to the shutter for you, Steve." It is one of the few works you've done I think doesn't work at all.

The composition, the exposure and the conversion are, in my view all wonderful.
The big debating point is going to be that bit of hair. Clearly, it's your right and role to realise the vision you had and represent the model as you saw/sensed her. It certainly keeps part of her 'hidden' from us.
Either way, I think it's a super image. Compliments, Steve.
EDIT - Just read Chris' post - That's the second time today we've gone in a different direction from each other ... which is what makes it all such fun.

I like the concept and the split toning used, but I have to agree with Rob here. If her hair was not blocking her face this could have been a definite winner for me. Was this taken using the 85mm f1.8D lens, Steve? The bokeh is really nice.

Re: Girl in a field
Thanks for the comments! The hair is an issue, but one I'm able to overlook - I like the expression underneath. No doubt the shot would be better with it out of her face, but I don't think it's a deal killer.
The flowers were yellow. I hate yellow. Yellow everywhere. This is preferable (to me). The blown-out look is due to a combination of DOF and blur added in post. I applied a filter in post that gave what seemed to be the best combination of effects on the face and the flowers.
Thank you for your comments. I think I'll post a different shot for comparison.

Here's one without hair.
I'm not as happy with this one, but just as a comparison.
Yes Jiro, that's the lens. It's fun to work with.

Re: Girl in a field
Try it with a 4 wide, 5 tall crop and see if it doesn't really give her a nice focal point pop.

Re: Girl in a field
Hi Chris. I'll give it a go when I get home. Can't access my files from here.
I do believe I tried that, but I will again to get the feed back.
Thanks
